Project Background and description
Due to the conflicts and unstable situations in Yemen Somali and Ethiopia, over 27,000 refugees and asylum-seekers (Yemeni, Somali and other nationalities), have been registered by UNHCR and the Office National d’Assistance aux Refugiés et Sinistrés (ONARS) in Djibouti (2017). It is crucial to enforce child protection to make sure that all of the refugee children living in this country receive protection care and services.
In 2016, we, ICAN, have established a Child Friendly Space in the Markazi settlement, Obock. Since 2018, ICAN has been an official implementing partner of UNHCR for child protection in Djibouti.
Our project aims at enforcing child protection in Obock, Holl Holl, Ali Addeh and Djibouti city, through providing basic access to child protection services, at the same time with supporting host communities.
