CORE Network Engineer in Djibouti
About the Role:
The Network Engineer is responsible for supporting our Core WAN and LAN. This includes the responsibility to deliver tangible results based upon network performance and uptime as well as the true end-to-end customer experience.
The role holder must be to a Cisco CCNP level of qualification and have at least 5 years experience working. The focus is on a deep and extensive understanding, knowledge and experience on:
Ø Cisco router: ASR1k
Ø Cisco Catalyst 9k
Ø Firewall Hillstone 6k series
Ø Calix, Dell and GLDS billing system
Ø System Information and Event Management (SIEM)
Key Responsibilities
• Working on the core, distribution and access of the AfriFiber Transport network
• Liaising with vendors and service delivery team on new projects, incidents, and escalations and Provide technical and design input to the management
• Carry out ongoing analysis of the network resources and work towards optimizing the performance of the network
• To manage new requirements to be implemented within the operational Network with a proper change management process
• Carry out regular service operational review meetings with internal/external services and facilities providers, and developing and managing any required service improvement plans to ensure that agreed SLAs and internal KPIs are met.
• Responsible for the preparation of regular operational and technical network performance reporting.
Key Skills/Experience
• Engineering / Computer Science Degree
• 5 years of WAN / LAN experience – implementation, troubleshooting a large scale corporate or service provider network environment
• Strong routing and switching background with both Cisco/HillStone experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of MPLS, BGP, MP-BGP, SD-WAN, VLANS, OSPF, ACLs & TCP/IP
• Excellent technical documentation skills
• Experience with Linux, Cacti, Splunk, other monitoring tools
• Cisco CCNP certification
