VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT- FINANCE ASSISTANT à Djibouti
Vacant Position: Finance Assistant

Duty station: Djibouti office
Duration of period: 3 months with possibility of extension

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization with 60 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within Shelter, Education, Food security, Legal Assistance, Camp Management Water, Sanitation and Hygiene sectors.
Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) has been implementing projects for Internally Displaced Persons and Refugees in Djibouti, since 2013 in supporting the Refugees in Ali Addeh and Holl-holl, whilst assisting Yemeni refugees at the Markazi Refugee Camp in Obock. NRC now seeks to recruit competent persons to fill the positions of Finance Assistant.
The Finance Assistant will be responsible in the implementation of the project activities in assigned area.
Job Description
1.Make sure all finance files are properly filed and easily traceable.
2.Assist the Finance officer all matters related to finance archive, photocopying and scanning of financial documents.
3.Ensure safe custody of an adequate amount of petty cash to Djibouti office to be issued in accordance with NRC policies and procedures.
4.Make all payments after approval by the respective managers and after compiling and verifying the accuracy of necessary documents.
5.Filing and Entering the petty cash data into NRC Postpacks.
6.In conjunction with Senior Finance Officer carry out weekly cash count and cash reconciliation
7.Effects all payment and settlements of accounts including, house rent, electric bill, water and telephone bills,
8.Preparation of monthly petty cash Postpacks and bank ledger including withholding tax report for in time checking by Senior finance officer,
9.Take interest in knowing more about cash advances and their purposes and ensure value for money when verifying accountabilities, and also ensure that accountabilities are prompt and cleared before reports are sent.
10.Responsible for field payments during trainings and other field activities.
11.Maintain open communication with the program staff for all financial clarifications
12.Any other task assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications
•At least 2 years of working experience in a finance department preferably with an international non-governmental organization (INGO) or the United Nations (UN).
•Relevant university Diploma in Accounting and/or having fair knowledge of work experience in financial management
•Professional knowledge of French and English is essential
•Proficiency in MS Office software
