【Project Background and description】
Due to the conflicts and unstable situations in Yemen, Somalia, and Ethiopia, over 27,000 refugees and asylum-seekers (Yemeni, Somali, and other nationalities), have been registered by UNHCR and the Office National d’Assistance aux Refugiés et Sinistrés (ONARS) in Djibouti (2017). It is crucial to enforce child protection to make sure that all of the refugee children living in this country receive protection, care, and services.
In 2016, we, ICAN, have established a Child Friendly Space in the Markazi settlement, Obock . From 2018, ICAN is an official implementing partner of UNHCR for child protection in Djibouti.
Our project aims to enforce child protection in Obock, Holl Holl, Ali Addeh, and Djibouti city, through providing basic access to child protection services, as well as through supporting host communities.
